Pediatric Wellness Program Patient Receives Physical Fitness Award
Arayah Douglas, a participant in the Glasgow Pediatric Healthcare Healthy Kids Clinic pediatric wellness program, earned the "Most Outstanding Improvement in Physical Fitness Award" for all 4th Graders by South Green Elementary School in Glasgow, KY. She has been in the Healthy Kids Clinic pediatric wellness program for nine months and has had a major BMI improvement. Arayah participated in our 5K Fun Run in April 2019 and won a bicycle. She is very involved in the community and has been participating in many community activity events including the Special Olympics Walk/Run at the YMCA.
In April 2017, Dr. Lynnette Brooks, Pediatrician at Glasgow Pediatric Healthcare and American Board of Obesity Medicine certified, pictured at right, spearheaded the development of our pediatric wellness program. The multi-disciplinary team approach gives every patient the opportunity to work one-on-one with a medical provider and professionals that specialize in nutrition, exercise and mental health.
Cumberland Family Medical Center, Inc. is spreading the message that healthy living can be fun. By encouraging children and adolescents to eat right and be active now, they can take steps to reach or maintain a healthy weight and lower their risk for chronic conditions. Most importantly, they can begin building a foundation of healthy habits for adulthood.
